Like I said, I have a church background and I'm relearning a few things. I'm also remembering a few things. I'm still experiencing - sort of what you notice in this picture. I took this early one morning when I dropped Lili off at school and I was hoping I could record what I was seeing. There was nothing these trees and this lane could do to stop the flow of light that was destined to change the surroundings. It was magic. Maybe you've experienced a scene like this before.
Its just about as descriptive as I can get when I try and describe what it is like for you when your journey of following Jesus begins. Being a follower of Jesus awakens things. Let's talk about that for a second.
In Mark chapter one, Jesus is barely on the whole scene and he makes an entrance like no other. He makes the huge announcement, "Finally, the time has come, The Kingdom of Heaven is near! Turn from your sins and believe the Good News."
Light.
Moving out the darkness.
Changing things.
Showing new things.
Exposing old things.
I imagine that if you can now take a few minutes to reflect, you can see the difference Jesus makes. You can see how being a follower of Jesus would cause you change. It can't help to. If it doesn't, you may want to step back and take a look at how serious you're taking him.
The Kingdom of God arriving in your life, is like opening up your eyes to unmerited favor. Quite simply, you get a gift that you don't deserve. No way to pay for it, its priceless. The night-time you've been living in has to go.
Now think about it. You've given your heart...now make sure you're giving your life. Spend a few minutes and see if you can write down some of the significance Jesus is already making. And email me, or post them here. You will be an encouragement to others.
Now, may you struggle to count the rays of change. Struggle with counting that high!
WOW! I just clicked onto to this from your church website. Thank you so much for this. I am an older, new learner. I have had to "unlearn" tons of legalism that I learned in church as a child, and unfortunately, passed on to my children. I am so very thankful that God has opened my eyes to the TRUTH of His Word and I am experiencing the "peace that transcends all understanding" and that peace is guarding my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4). I am also grateful that when we study God's Word for ourselves, we realize that we can know the Truth (Jesus) and the Truth will set us free!
